
CK: Upon its commercial release three weeks ago, Tom Hooper’s film adaptation of Cats garnered instant, near-universal scorn from audiences and critics alike. Since then, it’s become a byword for spectacular, unrelenting failure of the artistic and financial variety. Surely there’s some level of exaggeration at play, I thought, as we took our seats for a Friday matinee screening in suburban New Jersey, at one of the few theaters still carrying the film.
DF: Now Cameron, you can’t just say “we took our seats,” and let it go at that! We took our seats… in an otherwise completely empty theater, which remained so for the next two hours. Just you and me. I’ve been in small houses before, but this was a first—a private screening!…

Really enjoyed the review guys, you had more courage than I, I could not bring myself to go see it. However, I want to you remind you of a little item, as a choreographer, this “show” was intended as a dance recital basically, so everything else is really dressing.
Something I now realize Cameron and I forgot to mention in our review: in ditching the junkyard setting, now of course Grizabella’s tire disappears. Instead, she departs via a balloon that’s attached to… (wait for it)… a chandelier. In other words, she’s transported to *another* Andrew Lloyd Webber musical! #branding
